“How much does it really cost to own a Brompton in Singapore?”

The honest answer is this:

A Brompton costs more upfront than many bicycles, but if you use it regularly, maintain it properly, and choose the right setup from the beginning, the long-term value can be very strong.

The real question is not just “How much does a Brompton cost?”

The better question is:

“Will I use it enough for it to become part of my lifestyle?”

If the answer is yes, a Brompton can make a lot of sense in Singapore.

Brompton P Line and Brompton T Line.

Both are lighter, more performance-focused versions of the classic Brompton folding bike. Both are beautifully engineered. Both fold compactly. Both work extremely well for Singapore’s mix of cycling paths, MRT journeys, cafés, offices, apartments, and overseas travel.

If you’ve ever considered buying a Brompton, you’ve probably experienced a bit of sticker shock.

After all, a Brompton isn’t the cheapest bicycle you can buy. Depending on the model and specification, a new Brompton can range from S$3k all the way up to S$8.5k. Naturally, one of the most common questions I get asked is:

“Is a Brompton really worth it in Singapore?”

Having ridden Bromptons for years, sold them since 2016, serviced hundreds of them, and guided countless rides around Singapore, my answer is simple:

For the right person, absolutely.
